Moody Inspo | Styled Shoot The Overflow Estate

There are so many magical wedding venues in the Scenic Rim.  Couples are spoilt for choice and The Overflow Estate 1895 is no exception.

Photographed by Florin Lane

A boutique vineyard, The Overflow Estate 1895 is located in the Scenic Rim, on the edge of Lake Wyaralong. What began as an affair of the heart for the Morgan family, is now Queensland’s newest boutique wedding venue. Purpose built for special events, the rolling vines and scenery are breathtaking!

The Overflow Estate 1895, promises a ceremony site and reception venue with limitless photo opportunities. From the moment you and your guests drive through the front gates, you will feel at home in the stunning historic Estate.

As you discover more about our vineyard and venue, of which we are immensely proud, we hope you fall in love with our wines and the Estate as much as we have – David Morgan, Owner.

The Inspiration

Architecturally designed with an appreciation that reflects the surrounding landscape. Our mission was to showcase The Overflow Estate in its natural form and beauty.

Inspired by a timeless sophistication, Ikebana was our influence for this styled shoot.  Creating an effortless flow, with a ‘less is more’ wedding style paired with a moody palette for the cool season. Natural elements of wood and stone, added texture reflecting the structures exterior.  While smokey black hues with rich burgundy and chocolate adding a hint of colour through the floral arrangements.  The style brief was simple, think ‘Chanel in Tokyo’.

Dried wakame in stone pinch bowls, with wooden handled cutlery and sheer napkins draped over stone plates.  With floor draping oatmeal linen table coverings, showcasing the unique pattern in the venues chairs.  The menus were cut on an angle to reflect the lines of the form structure ceiling, with the addition of black delicate lights creating an ambient glow above.  Not one, but two wedding cakes! One embracing the effortless flow while another inspired by textural design of stone.

A deceptively simple design gown accentuated our models curves, creating an amazing silhouette.  The neckline was clean and plunging.  Modern and elegant.  A fringed chiffon scarf which secures at the empire waist, elegantly draping at the front.  Paired with a handmade, beautifully simple and sheer poncho in georgette, adding a sweeping train.

Needless to say, our creative team nailed the brief ever so effortlessly.

THE CONCEPT

Sarabah Estate is a creatives dream.  It leaves you feeling like you were just swept away into a European romance novel.

My inspiration was drawn from the stunning views of the vineyard and countryside.  Surrounding the ever so sweet European inspired Chalet. I quickly grew a love affair for its timber and stone exteriors. Aside from the aesthetics of the property, it also brought a sense of calmness.  A place where you are engulfed with serenity and gratitude for how beautiful the landscape is. I stop to take a moment amongst the Olive Grove. My ears were met with gentle whispers of the breeze rustling through the trees, whilst the birds sang to each other. Instantaneously, my eyes were also met with a dry, burnt landscape.  The drought has stricken much of the land, despite this I stop to notice that beauty still remained.  The way Mother Nature bended and folded branches into its own sculptural pieces of artwork.

STYLING

I wanted to capture the calmness, beauty and its discerning romance. All of these emotions were conceptualised to create the styling concept.  The fruition of a mid summer night set in Tuscany.

A romantic setting set under a canopy of festoons.  Showcasing the already beautifully quaint intimate round tables paired back with wrought iron chairs. Layering modern and vintage tableware pieces. Handmade paper with soft torn detailing reading Cenare , to have dinner ” in Italian.  A dramatic tonal layering of floor length silks of smokey undertones.  Thoughtfully selected to extend the aesthetics of the black windows and silver / grey furnishings of the Chalet. Whilst creating the most soft romantic movements, which fluttered in the breeze as it filtered through the garden.  An assortment of dried and fresh floral centrepieces displayed in stone vases. Thoughtfully chosen to add dried textures and warmer tones reminiscent of the dried countryside.

The most breathtaking cake with inspiration drawn from the softness of the fabrics, colour and dry landscape. With a balanced blend of smokey, warm hues and soft sculptural movements shown in stunning detail.  Finished with the most subtle detail of the dried branch reminiscent of the landscape. Emma Scott – For Love & Living

THE FLOWERS

The modern-meets-vintage concept was brought alive.  Through the use of delicate and timeless beauty of dried flowers, mixed with the romantic yet fleeting elegance of fresh florals. Inspired to feature warm beige and golden tones that peeked through dried elements. Along with the feminine soft blush and toffee tones.  All working in harmony to create a softly muted and dusty palette which said so much, without saying much at all. I refrain from using traditional greens throughout the use of foliage to create a uniquely modern and ethereal effect.  And instead, showcas various textures, dried ferns and deep burgundy foliage. The use of texture is one of my most adored aspects of floral design.  I was delighted to incorporate so many unique and textural elements. Including twisted willow to echo the surrounds of the vineyard that the photoshoot was held at. Sarah Luthy – Gwen Floral Co
THE CAKE
I got very very inspired by the rawness by the whole shoot. That area in Canungra being raw, I can imagine Emma got inspired by that too. When I saw the stationery and the torn raw paper, I wanted to put it in my cake. So, the cake for me was almost like terroir for wine: the connection with the land, the raw.  So, to represent that I used a variety of textural elements to bring a soft, still very raw story to the cake. And of course, the colour palette chosen brought an amazing elegant and soft touch to it. Marina Machado – Marina Machado Cakes
LIGHTING
We believe that beautiful lighting is key to creating that special ambience. An atmosphere at any event, helping to form the foundation and mood for your special day. It is important that you have the correct lighting to tie in with all other styling elements. This look was chosen to softly compliment the table settings, without dominating the space. PHOTOGRAPHY
Going into the shoot I did have a little idea what direction I wanted to take my images.  Once seeing how breathtaking the styling, cake and flowers were, I completely changed this and just took inspiration from the other suppliers involved. With a shoot like this one, I really like to have a good talk to the other professionals and listen to their stories and what inspired them.
The florals and setting leant itself to a muted palette with small touches of pastels coming through. The whole shoot had a very ‘under the tuscan sun’ feel and I just ran with that.
Whilst editing the images, I kept getting drawn towards the more moodier and darker aspects which the styling / cake design learnt itself towards. Photographer Steve TognazziniGlass Slipper Photography

Warm Autumn | Styled Shoot Tamborine Mountain

AUTUMN

A season of change and a time to reflect…

A very stylish season to fall in love!

STEEPED IN HISTORY…

Formerly a church on the Gold Coast, the Infant Saviour was saved from demolition and restored to become an old-world, romantic wedding venue situated on beautiful Tamborine Mountain, in the Scenic Rim.

With a change of name to Hampton Estate Wines, a new ‘Whiskey Bar’ and newly built Hampton inspired cottages, it was our challenge to shine a new light on this well known historic venue.

RED BRICK, TIMBER AND PAMPAS GRASS…

The whiskey bar has a hint of masculinity featuring warm brick and timber with a polished concrete floor.  I wanted to make good use of the red tones in the brick wall and timber beams overhead by bringing in festoon lighting and soft fluffy pampas highlighted with a simple yet visually stunning table scape.  The colourful pampas filled the room like fire and was softened with delicate dried arrangements and lots of candlelight.  The venue generously provided our team with delicious grazing boards including local cheese with wine from the Hamptons very own cellar door.

Cakes in varying sizes were inspired and designed by Marina Machado to reflect the elements of nature with each petal placed layer upon layer to achieve a feeling of movement.

DANCING IN THE WIND…

Miss World Australia 2018, Taylah Cannon looked stunning in a fitted beaded gown with long sleeves featuring a detachable train by Australian designer Karen Willis Holmes. Drop pearl earrings by Amelie George Bridal and a soft wave by Lara Quinn created an effortlessly elegant glam feel for our Bride’s look. The landscape of Hampton Estate Wines stretches out to a beautiful view however sadly we had cloud cover and slight wind, which was great for the detachable train that danced in the wind.

Then there features a car scene. Ford Fairlane is an all Australian classic and was brought in to compliment the hint of masculinity of the whiskey bar softened with delicate lace bridal wear by Homebodii and vibrant florals by Sugared Style adding a feminine allure.
